Police Call Off Search for Young Boy Disappeared in Australian Wilderness
Australian law enforcement have called off the hunt for a young boy who has been disappeared in the wilderness for almost several weeks, after fresh efforts proved unsuccessful to locate any signs of the youngster.
Chronology of Incidents
Gus Lamont was last seen engaging around his residence on a secluded sheep station near Yunta, about a significant distance from Adelaide, on 27 September.
His grandmother stepped away for about thirty minutes before looking for him, only to realize the boy gone, triggering one of the biggest ground and aerial searches in South Australian history.
Present Situation
Police - who do not suspect criminal activity - say they will carry on investigating, but that the situation has become a "search for recovery".
Recently, authorities temporarily wound down the hunt, only to recommence it on Tuesday alongside numerous Australian Defense Force personnel.
"Official the commissioner said officials were looking a more extensive region based on new evaluations from survivability and search professionals, rather than any new information."
Search Difficulties
On Friday, officials confirmed that the new operation had not uncovered any signs of the boy.
"The fact that the young boy is a little boy, the environment is extremely rugged, unforgiving and subject to unpredictable elements has made the operation demanding and more complex for those involved," authorities said in a release.
About a vast area - an area roughly twice the area of Edinburgh - has now been searched, and a specialized unit created lately is projected to continue investigating. Authorities have not excluded additional operations of the location in the future.

The child, who has been characterized as an explorative but shy boy, was last seen clothed in a gray headwear, pale gray trousers, boots and a navy long-sleeved T-shirt displaying a bright Minion character.
The situation has provoked huge attention around the country, with pictures of the fair-haired, curly-haired boy displayed throughout local media and conjecture running rife on the internet.
It led officials to request that citizens cease contacting them with their "speculations", and appeal for them to obtain information from credible places.
Family Reaction
Officials recently said the youngster's relatives remain "resilient" despite the heartbreaking conditions.
"It's easy to comprehend just how they are feeling... without having clarity as to precisely where the boy is and what's transpired to him. This would be traumatic for all families," Commissioner authorities said.
Via a spokesperson, the relatives loved ones has previously said they are "devastated" by the child's disappearance.
"This has come as a surprise to our relatives and acquaintances, and we are struggling to process what has happened," a family representative said.
"Gus's loss is noticed in all of us, and we long for him more than expressions can convey."
